Financial Literacy and Investment Management
I am Shilpa Patankar, a chartered accountant who transitioned from traditional employment to managing my own funds. Inspired by the mission of Unschool, to prepare kids for the challenges of tomorrow, I enthusiastically joined in 2021.
The blend of my professional experience allows me to bring real-world insights into the classroom. I have explored various roles in the financial sector, including positions at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Wipro BPO, ICICI Bank Ltd, and Indostar Capital Finance. My experience ranged from accounting to credit operations, corporate real estate funding, and investment management. Recognizing the potential of managing my own funds I transitioned to self-employment. Since 2015, I have successfully managed my portfolio using a mix of investment strategies, gaining hands-on insights into market dynamics.
Having worked in the finance industry, I understand that financial literacy is an essential skill that empowers us to navigate the complexities of life and make the most of the opportunities that come our way. Exposure to these concepts at an early age, can help children understand the consequences of their financial decisions and the importance of making informed choices. The sooner they start, the more time they have to learn from their mistakes, and develop a robust approach to managing finances.
As a Teacher, I am passionate about tailoring education to meet the unique needs of every learner. My approach revolves around translating complex financial concepts into simple, relatable experiences.
I believe strongly in UnSchool’s mission and values, and I am thrilled to contribute to our students’ growth and success. My role at UnSchool allows me to leverage my professional expertise to create an engaging and impactful learning environment, and I am proud to be a part of this innovative community.
